AI Product Manager Career Path in India | AIshala

Your day involves understanding customer pain points that AI can uniquely address, then working backwards to define success. You'll design evaluation frameworks to measure whether your model actually solves the problem (not just achieves high accuracy on a benchmark). You'll prototype prompt chains, review model outputs, and decide: should we fine-tune, use RAG, or build an agentic system? You're constantly balancing speed-to-market against model reliability, and communicating trade-offs to stakeholders who may not understand why "98% accuracy" isn't the same as "98% of users get useful answers."

Much of your time goes to understanding how AI breaks in the real world—bias in training data, drift in production, user expectations misaligned with capability. You own the product roadmap for AI features, prioritize between adding new models, improving existing ones, and reducing inference cost.

The career ladder typically moves from IC-level AI PM → Senior PM leading multiple AI initiatives → Director of AI/ML Product. Demand is outpacing supply, making this one of the highest-growth PM specializations.
